To design a graduation exhibition poster that effectively communicates the identity and creative spirit of Humber College’s Advertising
& Graphic Design program, while attracting diverse audiences and aligning with institutional branding.
Many existing graduation exhibition posters struggle to effectively balance institutional branding with the individual creativity of students.
A design approach that integrates both visual consistency and personal expression is needed.
The poster aims to engage industry professionals, faculty, and the public by delivering clear messaging and a well-structured visual
hierarchy. It stands as a portfolio-quality piece that reflects strategic design thinking, precise typographic execution,
and refined layout composition.
The first poster incorporates Humber’s signature yellow tones (#FCB817, #FBD372), reinforcing the institution’s official identity
and visual continuity while highlighting creativity, energy, and optimism. The second poster centers around a vibrant green (#9BCB3C),
symbolizing freshness, vitality, and growth. This color choice visually represents the graduating students standing
at the beginning of a new chapter.
To ensure legibility, the poster employs Bahnschrift, a typeface that delivers a modern and structured impression.
Its clear letterforms and balanced construction make it highly effective for conveying information while maintaining visual stability.
By applying contrast in size and weight, the design introduces rhythm and typographic hierarchy, guiding the viewer’s eye
naturally across the layout and clearly distinguishing the importance of each message.
The layout of the first poster uses different colors for the floor and wall to create depth and a sense of space.
Text is placed diagonally on the floor to guide the viewer’s eye into the exhibition, creating an immersive experience.
The layout of the second poster features an S-shaped path that represents the students’ journey. The event location
and time are placed at the start and end of the path for clarity. The program name is shown in a 3D style to add
visual interest and highlight its importance.
